Charcoal Drawings

Some new charcoals to be delivered to The Ruthven Gallery, Auchterarder, Scotland. Exhibition starts on Sunday 29 November 2015

These works have summed up the weather of late, wet, stormy, broody and full of energy. I wonder what lies ahead for us all.

Working in charcoal really gets you to work on the image as a whole and not hang onto specific accidents or marks; adding a scraping away until something is resolved, I make these drawings when investigating a specific landscape I want to understand before committing to paint.

I’ll get round to posting a few more on here as and when they are completed. Watch this space!
